Bioluminescence  is the production and emission of light by a living organism. Usually it is produced by algal blooms. An algal bloom or algae bloom is a rapid increase or accumulation in the population of algae in freshwater or marine water systems, and is recognized by the discoloration in the water from their pigments. The blooms carry and support millions of the bioluminescent dinoflagellates. Bioluminescence is used by dinoflagellates as a defense mechanism to escape predators. Bioluminescence can really only be seen in the darkness, so you have to be in a light free zone to witness it. The plankton light up whenever they are disturbed, though only for a moment. The greater the disturbance, the brighter the glow — boats typically create the most intense effects. Bioluminescence occurs through a chemical reaction that produces light energy within an organism's body. For a reaction to occur, a species must contain luciferin, a molecule that, when it reacts with oxygen, pro

Letter Of Recommendation for Adli Ahmad Rizaldy

Monday, March 4th, 2018 To Institute of Technology Bandung Scholarship selection committee, I am writing a letter on behalf of Adli Ahmad Rizaldy, a student of 3 Senior High School Bandung who is applying for Institute of Technology Bandung Scholarship program. I have known Mr. Rizaldy for the last 3 years and been mentoring his education. As his homeroom teacher, I have had the pleasure of supervising him in his studies. During my relationship with Mr. Rizaldy, I have experienced an individual who shows up earlier than asked, works hard, and carries themselves in a polite, respectable manners. He is a responsible, honest, and discipline student. Mr. Rizaldy is an active student both in class and outside the class, but he can manage himself to do the school assignments and complete his projects on time. During his school days, he has a lot of activities out of class, such as in the Youth Moslem Community and Boy Scouts. He is also a creative student who loves to make music, esp

Me and My Goals

My name is Hayfa Ghassani Rahmat. I'm 17 years old. I was born on 23rd February 2002, and currently live in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. There are 5 people in my family including me. There's my father, my mother, and my two little brothers. We're three and four years apart, so my little brothers are still in Junior High School right now. If you ask me what kind of person I am, I suppose I should say that I'm a strong-willed person, a perfectionist, and a fast-learner. On the other side, I'm also lazy, nonchalant, and too critical about myself. Since I was in elementary school, others always seen me as someone who's diligent and creative, but a little bit egoistic. And honestly, I won't deny it because that's quite right. I tend to care about things that only revolves around me. I really love reading. I love reading since I was a little kid. My father said that I could read since I was 3 and a half years old. I even read my father's textbooks

Future Plan and Personal SWOT Analysis

After the Edu Passion event last month, my teacher ask me about my future plans and personal SWOT analysis. Personal SWOT analysis is a great tool to assess yourself in order to plan your career. Finding a job you love that matches your skill set and of course, pay well, is not easy. You should ask yourself, and think about it carefully. This is where a personal SWOT analysis comes in handy. So i decided to make my own Personal SWOT analysis. FYI, if you’re unfamiliar with it, SWOT stands for: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. After i think about it carefully, i finally got it. Here it is, my personal SWOT analysis. 1. My Strengths (a) I'm strong-willed (b) I can solve my problems by myself (c) I'm a fast-learner (d) I'm a perfectionist (e) I have strong principle. I won't be affected by other people's words. (f) I love to learn something new (g) I'm confident 2. My Weaknesses  (a) I procrastinate my work really often. (

Analyzing Active and Passive Voice from An Article

Is it actually healthy to stop eating red meat? By Claire Maldarelli  October 12, 2017 We all hear about how bad red meat is for both the planet’s health and our own. Planet-wise, there’s no argument: The detrimental effects of greenhouse gases from livestock production on the earth’s atmosphere can’t be overlooked. So, for the month of October, members of the PopSci staff are abstaining from all forms of red meat (#NoRedOctober) for the sake of the environment, and, by extension, for our own good. We have to live here, after all. It’s in our best interest to minimize the cow farts. The health implications of eating red meat are a little more nuanced. On the one hand, numerous studies over the years showed that an over consumption of red meat isn’t the greatest for our bodies. The meat is often rich in fat and cholesterol, and an increase in both has been associated with numerous health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. Other studies have also found that its over consu
